The soothing sounds of flowing water are captured in the first two tracks on Benfay’s new EP, Floating Down. The Aare river runs though his hometown and has always had an immense impact on him- he credits it for some good times with friends when they were cooling off.
Both tracks are deep and dubby, with chords that create a sense of space and bass that keeps you moving. It’s the perfect music for a swim, whether you’re in the river or in your own mind. Benfay has captured the sensation of floating downstream, and it’s sure to transport you to another place.
The third track is dense and ambient, with a feeling like you’re on thin ice. It’s cold and watery, with a sense of being lost and alone. There’s a feeling of hopelessness, but also a sense of beauty in the solitude.
